Summer buggy Liner

Well I know its not that warm yet, but I'm hoping it won't be long...........so this weekend I finished a summer buggy liner for my little boy Harry.

It's 100% cotton including the wadding so he won't get all hot sitting on a polyester on those lovely sunny days, of which I hope there will be lots, soon !!!!

It's so bright cheerful I love it, I'm sure lots of you will recognise I've used  Ann Kelle's Urban Zoologie Whales print goes so perfectly with the pushchair colour :-)

My favourite quilt blogger has written a book !!!!!

I'm so excited because my all time fav quilter/blogger Alison of www.cluckclucksew.com has just written a book !!!! it's called Growing Up Modern.

What I really love is that all the projects are designed to be straightforward and simple to make.

Alison says "All of the projects can be made in a weekend…or a day if you’re a crazy-pregnant-sleep-deprived-mom hopped up on M&M’s and Sugar Babies." - sounds very familiar with a 5mth old and 4yr old I find Maltesers (by the box) help with quilting a lot lol !

There's lots of lovely pics over on Alison's blog pop over I'm sure you will want the book too !!

P.S. It's available to preorder on Amazon, and due in the UK June time

Baby Cloth Shoes

I came across a FAB tutorial for baby cloth shoes on this blog site the other day http://stardustshoes.blogspot.co.uk/2006/10/cloth-shoe-pattern.html and thought I'd have a go.

I used brushed cotton as my lining and put cotton wadding in the sole to make them nice and cosy, I didn't interface mine as I want them nice and soft.  They are very cute might have to make some more to use up my fabric scraps !

Bibs for baby

It's only 2wks now until we are expecting a new arrival in the LSC household, so I've been trying to get all upto date on lots of little house hold jobs, and also squeeze in some baby sewing and knitting too.

I've been using up my smaller pieces of fabric for these bibs, and nice quick and easy baby present if you have friends who are expecting.  They didn't take long at all, I've used very soft velcro as fasteners - easy to adjust.

Using Riley Blake Designs - Alphabet Soup Fabric

Using Lakehouse fabric - Blue dots

Yes blue for a boy :-) a brother for my 3yr old Oliver - hope they share toys ok or Santa won't be happy ! :-)

How you can be part of the Race Against Hunger campaign

What is the campaign all about
The campaign focuses on malnutrition which effects economies as well as cutting short millions of childrens lives at an astonishing rate of 300 children dying every hour of every day from preventable hunger related causes.

How to be part of the campaign

Even if you don't have time to stitch you can still help by signing the petition here....
Save the children race against hunger petition to sign

The campaign calls for people all across the UK to create jigsaw pieces (on their own or with friends / craft groups) which will be brought together in an impressive art installation next spring.   Each piece will be embroidered or painted with a positive or provocative message about the issue.  Crafters are encouraged to make 3 pieces -

1. One to keep to remind them to be part of the solution and not the problem.

2. One to send to be a part of the big jigsaw puzzle, so we can make a huge impact when they are all put together.  Suggested deadline is by end of Feb 2013, address TBC asap !

3. One to send or give to their MP, because the fact is hunger is a political issue with a political solution.

If you have a blog you can Grab The Blog Badge - this will really help to spread the word and show you support the campaign!
